CLIMB Workshop on Climate-Induced Migration
New Perspectives and Methodological Innovations

Climate change (interlinked with poverty, conflict, epidemics, and other humanitarian crises) could lead to internal resettlements, international migration, and other (new) forms of human mobility. However, the empirical link between various climatic conditions and migration outcomes is highly contested, and, to date, no unified theories can adequately capture the complexity of climate-induced migration. On behalf of the CLIMB consortium, we are delighted to invite researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders to participate in the workshop on Climate-Induced Migration. The aim of this multi-disciplinary workshop is to foster research innovations as well as international collaborations in the context of climate change and human migration. We welcome paper submissions that are related to the climate-migration nexus including, but not limited to:
• Theoretical and conceptual frameworks.
• Data and methodological innovations.
• Quantitative and qualitative studies.
• Use of big data, e.g., earth observation, mobile phone records, social media, among others.
• Socio-economic and demographic characteristics of climate-induced migrants.
• Policy and governance.
• Data privacy and ethical considerations.
The workshop will consist of oral presentations of accepted papers. We welcome theoretical, methodological, and empirical contributions from all disciplines. We also encourage participation from the stakeholder community, including governments, civil society organizations, the private sector, international and regional agencies, and professional bodies.

• Dr. Kanta Kumari Rigaud, Lead Environmental Specialist at the World Bank
• Dr. Linda Adhiambo Oucho, Executive Director of the African Migration and Development Policy Centre (AMADPOC)
• Dr. Flore Gubert, Research Director at French Institute of Research for Development (IRD) and associate member at Paris School of Economics.
• Dr. Mumuni Abu, Demographer and Senior Lecturer at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana
Submission Guidelines
Interested scholars of all disciplines and at any career stage are invited to submit an extended abstract (approx. 500 words) or a full paper with the name, affiliation and contact details of the author(s). Submissions should be made online via the link below.

The workshop will be free of charge and include two lunches and a dinner upon registration. Participants, however, are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. We look forward to your participation and contributions to this important discussion.
