Biography:
I am a PhD candidate and teaching assistant at the VUB. For my doctoral thesis, I study how the position of people without paid employment (commonly referred to as the unemployed and ‘inactives’) might best be seized analytically within contemporary class structures. I further investigate how macro-level attitudes towards poverty, unemployment and inactivity in European societies might be related to different outcomes (and in particular, the subjective experience of ‘social insecurity’) within this group.
